The moment I decided to invite all of you into a personal part of my life, I was super nervous. I was hesitant, and I debated for a long time on the decision.
With a lot of the events that took place in my life, I put my doubt and nervousness aside and decided it was more important to reach out to other moms than the fear of being questioned and judged. I will say though, I did not expect some of the raw moments I experienced.
Here’s the thing. Social media, as great as it can be, can also be a little scary.
I have always tried to preach kindness, I have always tried to show genericity and practice good manner. So, when I come across a post, a story, a comment or tag, where a person’s intention wasn’t kind, generous or good mannered, I get a knot in my stomach. I literally sit there, reading that post, that meme or comment and I become speechless. A Blogger to be speechless, funny right?
I guess I have never gone out of my way to belittle anything anyone has done. So, I’m a little caught off guard when I see someone else doing so.
Can we all just breathe a little?
Can we take a moment to remember what’s important here? As wonderful as social media is, as wonderful as our mom, fashion, food lovers communities are, as great as blogging is, I think we all have more important things to concern ourselves with. Our family, our children, our careers, our homes, our vacations, our moments NOT shared with the rest of the world.
Can we focus more on supporting the ones that need it? And I don’t mean saying it but not doing anything about it. Support them! Share their wonderful projects, wonderful accomplishments. Don’t sit there, and scroll through their great news. Praise them. Congratulate them.
I guess I just wanted to share a small part of why this Blog was started in the first place. I truly wanted to create a space for all things wonderful, and as difficult as that is to manage sometimes, I promise to never give up on that. I promise to continue to push a supportive community and to create a comfortable, friendly platform.
Their success, is not your failure. Keep that in mind next time you scroll past a wonderful thing your wonderful social media friend is doing.
With Love,
a mama + her mini
